Carnegie has started geophysical survey activities for CETO 6 project that will influence the future project development.
The findings of the geophysical activities will influence elements of the CETO 6 project, such as foundation selection, cable route and overall installation methodology, Carnegie’s press release reads.
Marine GeoSolutions and RPS Energy, in conjunction with Carnegie, are undertaking the survey capturing information about the geological characteristics at the site.
The detailed bathymetry using a number of different methods including single and multi-beam echo sounding and side scan sonar will also be performed, according to Carnegie.
The geophysical survey is a critical step in the environmental approvals process for the CETO 6 Project and the results of the survey will determine the next phase of the design process for Carnegie’s team.
The project comprises the design, construction, deployment and demonstration of three CETO 6 units in a grid-connected, up to 3MW peak installed capacity wave energy project at Garden Island, Western Australia.
It is supported by USD 8.93 mln (AUD 11 mln) funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
Additionaly, the Australian Clean Energy Finance Corporation provided a five year USD 16.2 mln (AUD 20 mln) loan facility for the CETO 6 project.
