French tidal energy developer, Sabella, has contracted Bourbon’s Argonaute vessel for the installation of the export cable for its D10 tidal turbine.

The installation will take place off the island of Ushant, where the company plans to install the turbine, a month after the cable installation.

The installation work on the 2 kilometer long subsea cable is scheduled to start on Monday, and last for two days.

Around 20 people will be onboard Argonaute to support the work, the company informed.

A castiron component manufacturer, FMGC, has provided 200 meters of castiron cable protection that will be installed close to the shore for cable stabilization.

The deployment of Sabella’s D10 is planned for June.
