The buoys for Atmocean’s wave energy device have arrived to Ilo, Peru – the deployment location for Atmocean’s scaled wave energy system.

Atmocean is planning to deploy a scaled 1/3 demonstration system that will consist of 5 buoys and 5 pressurized pumps.

The company aims to deploy the wave energy system by early June.

Earlier this month, Atmocean received an official permit from the Peruvian Navy granting the US-based wave energy developer a one-year license to demonstrate its wave energy technology Peruvian coastal city of Ilo.

The Atmocean system operates by sending pressurized seawater to onshore turbines to generate power, or to provide desalinated fresh water. This deployment will act as a proof of concept, leading to full scale deployment by the end of 2015.
