An offshore worker has been airlifted by Shetland Coastguard helicopter from a platform located in the UK North Sea.
Aberdeen’s Evening Express reports that a man in his 50s, working on Shell’s Brent Delta platform, suffered an injury and he was subsequently airlifted to Gilbert Bain Hospital, in Lerwick, at 11.30am.
According to Evening Express, Shetland Coastguard’s spokeswoman said that the man’s injuries are not serious.
In a phone call with Offshore Energy Today, Shell’s spokesperson confirmed that it was a minor incident, but no further details are available at the moment.
Brent Delta is an offshore platform operated by Shell and located about 115 miles north-east of Shetland. It is one of four platforms located in the Brent oil and gas field. Shell recently started preparing plans for the Brent Delta platform decommissioning .
