On November 5, 2014, deepwater construction vessel Aegir installed the Ichthys LNG project’s 6,500 tonne riser support structure tower in the Ichthys field, offshore Western Australia.
Soon after, the RSS arch was installed: 120 metres long and 20 metres wide, Inpex informed in a video showing the RSS installation process.
The RSS now stands firm with its arch reaching about 110 metres off the seabed. It will hold up a network of rigid and flexible flowlines and umbilicals that run between the field’s five drill centres and the central processing facility.
More than 180 kilometres of subsea flowlines will connect the drill centres to the CPF, and the CPF to the floating production, storage and offloading facility, which will be moored about three kilometres away.
