The first component delivered by the heavy haul transport last week, a “heat recovery steam generator,” has been put in place at the Dominion Cove Point LNG terminal.
It is the first of eight heat recovery steam generators to be installed and is the dark pillar in the center of the photo.
Dominion recently received final authorization from FERC to export LNG up to the equivalent of 0.77 billion standard cubic feet per day of natural gas for a period of 20 years from the Cove Point facility.
Dominion has fully subscribed the capacity of the project with 20-year service agreements with ST Cove Point, a joint venture of Sumitomo Corporation and Tokyo Gas of Japan; and GAIL Global (USA) LNG, a wholly owned indirect U.S. subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited.
When completed in late 2017, Cove Point will produce about 5.25 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas annually.
