Carillion has been awarded a contract to design, supply and install 160km of 150kV cable and associated jointing accessories for the Rampion offshore wind farm.

The project will involve the installation of cable over a distance of approximately 26km from landfall near Shoreham on Sea to Bolney, West Sussex.

As part of the project, Carillion will undertake civil engineering and cable installation activities. The cable route passes through the South Downs National Park and so a sympathetic and proactive approach to the management of the project will be key to successful delivery, the company said.

The onshore cabling project will start immediately and is scheduled for completion in late 2016.
