WERPO is looking to build ‘a very large infrastructure for ocean power generators’ together with an unnamed electrical supplier in China.
According to WERPO, the company is currently in discussions with ‘one of the most important electric companies’ in China, through Beijing Capital Group (BCG) – WERPO’s exclusive China representative.
WERPO has initially proposed to build a 100 MW power station which could generate approximately $25 million in annual revenues, WERPO’s press release reads.
Shmuel Ovadia , director at WERPO and inventor of its proprietary sea wave energy technology, said: “China is one of WERPO’s strategic locations; it has the potential to supply enough energy for all of China due to the region’s vast expanse of ocean. This is most important since there are growing environmental concerns in China.”
In January, 2015, WERPO signed an agreement with BCG , granting it exclusive representative rights, with the aim to accelerate the implementation of sea-wave energy in China.
WERPO, an Israeli wave energy company, has developed technology based on the utilization of sea waves’ rise and fall to yield hydraulic pressure that produces electricity, exploiting the potential of wave speed, height, depth and currents beneath the surface of the water.
