Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) President Professor David Balmforth visited recently McLaughlin & Harvey’s Teesport Berth 1 reconstruction site in Middlesbrough.
During the visit, Mr. Balmforth launched the national public awareness campaign ‘ This is Civil Engineering ’ in that region ahead of the General Election.
This £13 million Teesport’s Quay 1 reconstruction project that McLaughlin & Harvey is performing for client PD Ports follows on from the successful delivery of the £17 million 305m long Phase 1 which is almost completed.
Phase 2 works include the design and construction of 245m of suspended deck quay, the demolition of the existing 50 year old post-tensioned concrete structure, and dredging.
Works are to be completed by early 2016.
