Ezra’s subsea services division, EMAS AMC, has successfully delivered a project of transportation and setup of three subsea structures on the Statoil-operated Aasta Hansteen field.

The Aasta Hansteen, with a water depth of 1300 metres, is located in the Norwegian Sea, 300 km west of Bodø, Norway and represents a pioneering field development.

EMAS AMC’s scope of work included the transport and installation of two 4-slot templates and one single-slot template.

The installation on the seabed of three subsea templates, built at Aker Solution in Sandnessjøen, is a new Norwegian depth record.

“Aasta Hansteen will be the largest Spar-platform in the world, and the first on the Norwegian continental shelf,” said Statoil in a statement.

Furthermore, Svein Haug , the head of EMAS AMC’s European and African operations, was quoted saying: “Never before has the installation of subsea structures been carried out on the corresponding depths on the Norwegian shelf.”

Back in March 2013, EMAS AMC secured the transport and installation contract for the Norwegian Sea’s deepest offshore project, and Lewek Connector was announced as the vessel of choice. However, the 138.5 meters long subsea construction vessel BOA Sub C was selected for the job.
