China enters UK with £300 mln contract for Swansea tidal
China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has been named as preferred bidder for the £300 contract for the construction of the 9.6 km long lagoon wall, including bund wall and coffer dam. CHEC will also be in charge of sourcing and transporting rock and materials to Swansea Bay, and managing all landside and marine crews associated with this element of the build.
Alun Griffiths wins £25 mln supply contract for Swansea tidal
Alun Griffiths has been named as preferred bidder for public realm ancillary works for Swansea Bay tidal lagoon. Under £25 mln contract Alun Griffiths will provide ancillary civil engineering for the project’s public realm works, including breakwater surface, roads, slipways, utilities and landscaping.
Aquamarine Power, WES join hands for ‘Project Know-How’
Aquamarine Power has secured a three month contract with Wave Energy Scotland (WES) to hold a workshop for WES industry invitees. Within the ‘know-how’ package Aquamarine Power will share knowledge in areas as diverse as offshore operations, corrosion and protection, supply chain components, resource modelling and assessments and maintainability improvements.
EPSRC launches funding call for wave and tidal
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has issued a funding call for collaborative research projects that will investigate novel concepts for marine energy development. The focus of this £3 million call is on wave and tidal energy development from a global perspective.
OERA seeks tidal energy resource assessment propositions
The Offshore Energy Research Association (OERA) has been commissioned by the Nova Scotia Department of Energy to execute a two stage process for tidal energy resource assessment in the Bay of Fundy, Canada. According to OERA, the project’s goal is to develop a digital map series and associated datasets for use in assessing the in-stream tidal resource opportunities in the study area.
