RES has signed an agreement with Blue Wind Engineering to expand consultancy services into South Korea, capitalising on the country’s ambition to develop its offshore wind industry.

RES’ Korean business activities will be led by Dr. Jone Oh, founder of Blue Wind Engineering, who is tasked with assisting with the establishment of a consulting business, raising RES’ profile in South Korea as a provider of services and securing new business. The focus of RES’ activity will be the provision of project life-cycle services to the emerging offshore wind market.

David Povall, CEO Asia-Pacific at RES , said:

“The enthusiasm for the emerging offshore wind market in Korea makes this a very exciting opportunity for RES. Korea has ambitious targets for offshore wind and is looking to build upon its rich experience and knowledge of marine industries, in particular its marine engineering, shipbuilding and steel plate manufacturing. These industries are well developed, so as a country Korea is well placed to play a significant role in both the domestic and international offshore wind markets.”

Dr. Oh founder of Blue Wind Engineering and RES’ representative in Korea said:

“Korea is looking for technical support for its projects and R&D programmes from experienced players and RES, with years of experience in offshore wind and with skilled staff that understand the challenges and the complexity of offshore projects, is well placed to offer its full range of services to this emerging market. We are extremely pleased to have been selected as RES’ representative for its consultancy and business development services.”
