From 14 to 16 April 2015, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway carried out an audit of Statoil’s development of Aasta Hansteen gas field in the Norwegian Sea.
The objective of the audit was to make sure that Statoil, in partnership with HHI/Technip and other parties involved, is in compliance with the regulations.
PSA says that one non-conformity was identified in connection with fire barriers in the accommodation quarters.
In addition, an improvement point was identified in connection with passive fire protection.
The regulator notes that Statoil has been given a deadline of June 19, 2015, to report on how the non-conformity and improvement point will be dealt with.
Aasta Hansteen gas field
The Aasta Hansteen gas field in the Norwegian Sea, operated by Norwegian oil major Statoil, is situated at a depth of 1300 metres in the Vøring area, 300 kilometres from land.
Together with Haklang and Snefrid Sør, the recoverable resources are estimated at 47 billion standard cubic metres of gas.
The field development includes a SPAR platform, which will be the first such installation on the Norwegian continental shelf.
