Eco Wave Power, an Israeli wave energy developer, has been shortlisted for the Erasmus Energy Awards that will be held as part of EU Sustainable Energy Week 2015, in the Netherlands.

The Erasmus Energy Business Award nominations were judged based on the novelty of the project’s approach and proposal, as well as the quality and value of the business potential and its contribution to the planet, Eco Wave Power’s press release reads.

The final nominees were chosen by a panel of six judges.

Marcel van Oosterhout from Erasmus University said: “Eco Wave Power is a Finalist because its technology is well engineered and smart. The on-site and near-site locations are easily accessible, and manufacturing costs are low.”

Commenting on the announcement, David Leb and Inna Braverman, the co-founders of Eco Wave Power, said that they are pleased with the announcement and look forward to commercialization of wave energy sector.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week 2015 is taking place from June 15 to 19, 2015.

As announced earlier, Eco Wave Power received an approval from the Chinese government for the construction of a 100 kW wave power plant in Zoushan island, China.

The plant is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business grants Erasmus Energy Business Award and the Erasmus Energy Science Award for the best innovative and sustainable energy concept or business model that contributes to improving people’s lives, business success, and the planet.

Eco Wave Power has developed its proprietary Wave Clapper and Power Wing technology that harnesses the motion of the waves in order to produce electricity.
