Jan De Nul Group has been named as the company that filed a complaint over the regularity of the preferred bidder contract award to China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC).
According to BBC, Jan De Nul raised a question on the potential conflict of interest over the award of the £300 mln contract to CHEC.
Jan De Nul lost the bid to CHEC to conduct marine works for the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project that includes the construction of 9.6 km long lagoon wall, bund wall and coffer dam.
Under the contract, CHEC will be responsible for sourcing and transporting rock armour and materials to Swansea Bay as well.
Jan De Nul Group said it was concerned about CHEC’s partnership with Atkins, BBC reports .
Atkins has been named as Client’s Engineer for Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay. The company said it was Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay’s decision to select the supplier, and that Atkins did not collaborate with CHEC, according to BBC.
China Harbour Engineering Company is a state-owned company operating in the fields of marine engineering, dredging and reclamation, road and bridge, railway, airport, and equipment assembly.
Jan De Nul Group is a Belgian dredging and marine construction company specialized in providing services for offshore industry of oil, gas and renewable energy sectors.
