Russia’s Gazprom and Royal Dutch Shell signed a deal to expand the Sakhalin LNG plant located at Prigorodnoye.
Gazprom’s Alexey Miller and Ben van Beurden of Shell signed a memorandum for the construction of third LNG production train within the Sakhalin II project, Russia’s gas giant Gazprom said in a statement on Thursday.
The Sakhalin LNG project, a joint venture between Gazprom, Shell, Mitsui, and Mitsubishi, has earlier this year offloaded its 900th cargo of the chilled gas.
Since its start-up in 2009, the 9.5 mtpa project delivered LNG to customers in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, India and Kuwait.
