ACEP’s Alaska Hydrokinetic Energy Research Center (AHERC) is making preparations prior to the summer testing season.

The team has been preparing the floating test platform, boats and equipment, according to ACEP’s social media.

AHERC’s new research support boat, which will be used to maneuver the Murdock Trust Testing Barge and to support other research work, was lifted onto its new trailer by UAF’s Facilities Services.

The boat will be used this summer when Oceana returns to the site to test its in-river turbine .

As reported earlier, Oceana’s team inspected the turbine and prepared it for the testing season.

Oceana’s turbine was tested at ACEP’s Tanana River test site in September 2014.

The first trial was conducted to test the measurement devices to ensure proper functioning.

The Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) based at the University of Alaska is dedicated to applied energy research and testing focused on lowering the cost of energy throughout Alaska and developing economic opportunities for the State, its residents, and its industries.

Oceana Energy is US-based technology company focused on developing marine turbines that produce electric power from flowing currents of ocean tides and rivers.
