Stonehenge Metals has completed the building and the assembly of the Protean wave energy converter (WEC).
According to Stonehenge, bench testing and calibration of core energy conversion system components is progressing as scheduled, following the completion of major structural component build and assembly of the device.
The company plans to commence with dry land testing of the fully assembled device in the coming weeks.
Bruce Lane , Managing Director at Stonehenge, said: “The assembly of the major structural component of the proof of commercial applicability device is a key milestone in our program to accelerate commercialisation of the Protean technology.”
As reported earlier, Stonehenge Metals signed an MoU with Yanchep Beach Joint Venture for the development of Protean wave energy farm consisting of 30 devices off Western Australia.
It will supply power to Yanchep, an outer coastal suburb located 56 km north of Perth, and have a total capacity of 45 kW.
