L&T bags $426M deal with ONGC offshore India

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has bagged a contract for the Bassein Development Project from the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) worth 2715 crores ($426M), in the western offshore basin of India.

The contract encompasses total Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) for the project. According to LTHE, the scope includes one new process platform with gas processing and compression facilities, one nine-slot wellhead platform, topside modification on existing platforms, associated subsea pipelines and one living quarter platform in the Bassein Field.

The project is a part of ONGC’s strategy to enhance the field life and increase recovery of Mukta, Bassein and Panna Formations, and is scheduled to be completed by December 2017. The estimated Capex for the project is 4,620 Crore ($726M).

According to ONGC, the cumulative production from the field till 2027-28 is pegged at 19.56 BCM of gas, 1.97 million cubic meter of condensate and 1.83 MMT of oil.

Bassein field is located at a water depth of 50-70m and about 80-90 km from Mumbai coast. The gas and condensate will be taken to Hazira Plant.
