Carnegie Wave Energy has announced that its wave energy project off Perth has reached 10.000 hours of continuous operation.

According to Carnegie, CETO 5 units have experienced a wide range of sea states, including waves of up to 5.7 m high.

Perth Wave Energy project has been connected to the Australian grid in earlier this year .

The project comprises three CETO 5 units, and is providing power to power to HMAS Stirling, Australian naval base on Garden Island.

Carnegie’s CEO, Michael Ottaviano , said: “Achieving 10.000 hours of continuous operation is a significant milestone not just for Carnegie but for the wave energy industry as a whole. The industry has faced a lot of challenges, especially around reliability and survivability. By demonstrating the continuous operation of our product, we’re addressing these challenges.”

Carnegie Wave Energy is an Australian wave energy player that has developed CETO wave energy technology.
