Nigeria LNG, operator of the Bonny export plant, has generated some 85 billion dollars from exports since it was created in 1989, Babs Omotowa, CEO of NLNG, said on Friday, June 19.
“ We have been able to generate more than 85 billion dollars in revenue over the year. From that, we paid 30 billion dollars in dividends to our shareholders, including the government ,” Omotowa said during a television interview with CNBC Africa.
Nigeria LNG has recently paid 1.6 billion dollars in tax to the government “ and this will go a long way to assist the new government in solving some of its problems ,” according to Omotowa.
The Bonny Island facility currently has six trains in operation with a total capacity of some 22 mtpa of LNG. It requires about 3.5 bcf/d feedgas intake at full production.
NLNG is a joint venture compromised of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC (49%), Shell (25.6%), Total (15%), and Eni (10.4%).
