Siemens is officially christening its new Service Operation Vessel (SOV) Esvagt Faraday in Hamburg today, the company announced on its social media pages.

“The SOVs are a key part for efficient & safe offshore wind service,” said Randy Zwirn, CEO Power Generation Services.

He further added: “Siemens is committed to pioneering new technologies that make the lifecycle cost of wind energy competitive.”

Esvagt Faraday is the second SOV (first being the Esvagt Froude ) custom built to service offshore wind farms.

The vessel will service wpd’s Butendiek offshore wind farm in the North Sea.
