The Murray Mouth dredging project, aimed to maintain connectivity between the river and the Southern Ocean, is in its final phase now – with the construction works likely to be completed within next few days.

Dredging operations at the Mouth began on January 9th 2015 and as of the last week over 515,000 cubic meters of sand has been removed from the site.

Mariners are reminded that dredges are currently operating in the Tauwitchere and Goolwa Channels.

Navigation through the Murray Mouth is only permitted during daylight hours and according to the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) report, the Exclusion Zones established around the dredging operations remain in place to ensure public safety.
