Guernsey’s Renewable Energy Team, working under Commerce and Employment Department, has carried out a survey on public opinion regarding the use of renewable energy sources, ITV reported.

The results have shown that tidal energy is the most popular. Namely, of 500 surveyed people, 86% expressed their support for this clean energy source, and 74% said they would even pay a higher electricity bill for tidal energy.

Solar and wave energies also got a vast support, 81% and 80% respectively, while 58% were in favour of offshore wind. A wind project off the island’s north coast was supported by 55% of people.

On a more general scale, some 89% said Guernsey should be powered by local renewable sources.
