French provider of oilfield services Technip has been awarded a topsides detailed engineering and procurement services contract by Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd.

The project is part of the conversion of the Navion Norvegia shuttle tanker into a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which is built at the Jurong Shipyard, in Singapore. Once completed, the vessel will be named Pioneiro de Libra FPSO.

The FPSO will be based in the giant, Petrobras-operated Libra field, offshore Brazil, at a water depth of approximately 2,500 meters. It will have a capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil per day and 4 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

Technip’s operating center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will execute the contract which is scheduled for completion during the second semester of 2016.

KK Lim , President of Technip in Asia Pacific, commented: “We are pleased to engineer the topsides of this FPSO that would be used for work on the Libra field in the ultra-deepwater section of Brazil’s Santos Basin. It demonstrates the trust of our client in Technip’s technical strength and extensive knowledge in this kind of floating platform, having delivered some of the largest FPSO units in the world.”
