The final cable connection of the Sabella D10 tidal turbine still remains to be done, as the MV Palembang was proclaimed unsuitable for this specific task on Friday, June 26.

Several attempts to stabilize the vessel and enable it to operate the delicate lifting of both ends of the cable and making the connection did not appear quite safe despite the help from tugs, which were trying to hold the vessel in position.

Sabella said that any damage to the equipment may jeopardize the successful completion of the project. Therefore, the company decided that the connection work will be done in optimal safety conditions for the equipment, with a more suitable vessel that has dynamic positioning, Tidal Energy Today reported.

The connection is scheduled to be carried out in July.

Sabella D10 tidal turbine was installed according to original specifications and lowered to the required location, with the cable connectors in proximity to one another.
