The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a notice granting Venture Global’s request to initiate the pre-filing review process of the proposed Plaquemines LNG project to be located on the Mississippi River.
According to the filing, Venture Global plans to construct and operate an LNG export facility with a capacity of processing approximately 2,800 million cubic feet per day of natural gas. The project would liquefy, store, and export LNG overseas.
Plaquemines LNG project would include three new natural gas feed pipelines connected to nearby existing natural gas pipeline networks in southeastern Louisiana; 20 liquefaction trains, each with a capacity of approximately 140 MMcfd; four LNG storage tanks; three marine loading berths for ocean-going vessels; and on-site power generation.
Venture Global informed that when fully developed the facility will be able to export 20 mtpa of LNG while allowing for an option to add further 10 mtpa of export capacity, depending on the market demand.
The project site encompasses approximately 623 acres located just south of Myrtle Grove, Louisiana, in Plaquemines Parish, on the west side of the Mississippi River, near river mile marker 55.
Venture Global informed that it intends to file an application for the Plaquemines LNG project in February 2016.
