The Dunkirk LNG terminal is the second largest industrial construction site underway in France.

The final investment decision on the project was reached in 2011 by EDF and its partners, Fluxys and Total, kicking off the construction of the terminal.

With a planned regasification capacity of 13 bcm of gas, Dunkirk LNG terminal will have enough capacity to cover 20% of France and Belgium’s annual gas consumption. 8 bcm of gas have already been booked by EDF while Total reserved 2 bcm of the terminal’s capacity.

Terminal’s three LNG tanks have a storage capacity of 190,000 cbm each and the facility will be able to receive the world’s largest LNG carriers with up to 266,000 cbm capacity.

According to the Dunkirk LNG website, the terminal’s industrial and commercial deployment is scheduled for the end of 2015.
