The works, undertaken by VolkerStevin to upgrade Kirkcaldy sea wall and improve the promenade area on behalf of Fife Council, have been recognized with the Integrated Transport Project of the Year accolade at the Scottish Transport Awards.

Completed in November 2014, and costing just over £9 million, the upgraded sea wall and refurbished promenade now provides a resilient coast defense.

Will Davies, VolkerStevin site agent , said: “ It is great to see that our work is recognized by the Scottish Transport Awards. Throughout the construction period, which started in July 2013, we have been closely liaising with the Kirkcaldy community and received positive feedback and co-operation.”

Additional benefits include opportunities for organizing festivals and events on the promenade; better conditions for walking and cycling; and improved connections between the town center and the promenade.
