Uzma Berhad’s subsidiary, Uzma Engineering Sdn Bhd, has been awarded a contract for leasing, operation and maintenance of a water injection facility for PETRONAS Carigali Sdn.

The company obtained the contract to provide a water injection facility for Petronas’ D18 field offshore Sarawak in July 2015.

According to Uzma Berhad’s Bursa Malaysia filing, the contract comprises of performing complete engineering, construction, installation, and commissioning of water injection facility. In addition, Uzma will provide the operation and maintenance services on the facility.

D18 is a mature oilfield located offshore Sarawak, discovered by Shell in 1981 and entered production in 1986, when Shell handed over the field to Petronas.

To remind, in October 2013, Petronas entered into a long-term agreement with Baker Hughes to undertake a field development study aimed at increasing oil recovery and extending field life.

The first phase of Petronas’ two-phase re-development of the D-18 oilfield is understood to centre on water injection through a jack-up facility. In addition to water injection capabilities, the leased jack-up will feature sea-water treatment equipment.
