The 160,000 cbm FSRU Golar Eskimo, which is being used as Jordan’s first LNG import terminal in the port of Aqaba, received a cargo of the chilled gas during the weekend.
LNG tanker Castillo de Santisteban, with a capacity of 173,600 cbm, docked at the FSRU on July 10 carrying a shipment from Trinidad’s Point Fortin LNG facility, according to shipping data.
The LNG tanker set sail from the port of Aqaba on Sunday, July 12, the data said.
This marks the first docking of an LNG carrier at Golar Eskimo since it arrived in the port of Aqba in May loaded with a shipment from Qatar, according to local media.
Jordan so far signed only one agreement to import the chilled gas via the Aqaba LNG terminal. The deal was signed with Shell for the delivery of 4.2 million cubic metres of gas per day for a period of five years.
BAM Group recently said it has completed the €65-million-project to construct the LNG terminal for Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC).
BAM International, a unit of BAM Group, designed, built and commissioned an LNG jetty with approach trestle, including the mechanical, engineering and piping services, buildings, infrastructure works and tug jetty berth for attending tugs.
Capable delivering up to 500 MMSCFD with a peaking capacity of 750 MMSCFD, the Golar Eskimo FSRU is connected to the Jordan gas transmission pipeline that delivers the fuel to power plants throughout the country.
