The European Commission has granted €2.65 in financial support to a Gasum project studying the opportunities to develop an LNG refueling station network for heavy-duty vehicles.
The project will involve Gasum constructing four pilot stations within the TEN-T core network in the next two years in Helsinki, Vantaa, Turku and Jyväskylä, Finland.
The company informed in a statement that it aims to increase the number of Gasum-owned stations by 35 new stations in the next ten years.
The infrastructure being constructed will also enable the use of liquefied biogas in heavy-duty transport.
Gasum applied for Connecting Europe Facility support to explore the opportunities to construct an LNG/L-CNG refueling station network and the deployment and testing of four pilot stations.
The project is expected to cost around €5.3 million in total, Gasum said.
