Carnegie Wave Energy has received the Clean Energy Council (CEC) Innovation Award for its CETO wave energy technology.
The winners of the awards were announced at the Australian Clean Energy Summit held on July 15-16, 2015, in Sydney.
Kane Thornton, CEC Chief Executive, said innovative new renewable energy projects continued to inspire the rest of the industry, and Carnegie’s success with its CETO technology over the last year was undeniable, according to CEC.
Kane Thornton said: “Carnegie’s three-unit array with the Department of Defence in WA is currently the only grid-connected wave energy project in the world, and produces both renewable energy and desalinated water. The judges said it was an important and pioneering project with genuine commercial potential, and I couldn’t agree more.”
Carnegie Wave Energy has developed CETO wave energy technology, and successfully connected an array of three CETO 5 wave energy devices to the Australian grid in February this year.
Clean Energy Council is an industry association made up of more than 550 member companies operating in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
CEC members are involved in the development or deployment of clean energy technologies such as bioenergy, cogeneration, energy efficiency, geothermal, hydro, solar, solar hot water, marine energy and wind.
