Dominion filed a report with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on the construction progress at its Cove Point liquefaction project in Calvert County, Maryland.
Dominion said in its filing that it has received all applicable authorizations for the project, and that engineering is 90% complete, while procurement is at 77% and construction at 5.3%
During this review period civil construction continued at the offsite area A for grubbing, erosion and sediment control maintenance, mass excavation, fine grading, and storm water management installation. Additionally, the project continued to set up office trailers, expanded the use of parking for workers, continued perimeter fencing, and continued installation of the maintenance building.
At the offsite area B several heavy haul equipment deliveries related to the North and South HRSG’s were transported to the terminal site during the month of June. Monitoring of E&S controls continues to insure proper environmental protection.
At the terminal, work continued on modifications of existing plant stacks and various utilities reroutes/modifications.
Work scope completed during the review period of June included; Tank F wall, mass excavation for steam turbine generator/air cooled condenser/auxiliary boilers, drilled shafts for buttress wall and tower cranes, and auger cast piles for; STG and ACC.
Work also continued on the installation of; reinforced concrete pipe, duct banks, medium voltage cable, underground fire water piping, demolition of select existing roads, cut/fill operations, and ongoing E&S control measures. Permanent sound wall column installation began.
Additionally, excavations, deep foundations, structure foundations, structural steel, setting of HRSG equipment modules, and MSE Wall Panels at N. Flare started.
The Cove Point LNG export project is estimated to cost between $3.4 billion and $3.8 billion.
Dominion has fully subscribed the marketed capacity of the project with 20-year service agreements with ST Cove Point, a joint venture of Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo Gas and Gail Global (USA) LNG.
