The Maritime Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard informed that Delfin LNG’s application for the licensing of a liquefied natural gas export deepwater port offshore Louisiana contains all required information for further processing of the application.
Delfin LNG’s initial application with Federal authorities was deemed incomplete requiring supplemental information.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission informed in its response to Delfin LNG’s application that it will not commence processing the application until MARAD and USCG accept the company’s application and until HIOS submits an abandonment application with the commission.
Delfin LNG said in its application that HIOS will separately seek authorization to abandon by lease its facilities to Delfin LNG. No such application has been filed to date.
The proposed Port Delfin, with the capacity of 9.2 million metric tons per year of LNG, will be located approximately 50 miles off the coast of Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The project proposes to construct an onshore compressor station and use existing, underutilized pipeline infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico to transport natural gas to four moored floating liquefied natural gas vessels.
