The first trial run of the New Suez Canal has been set for Saturday, July 25, 11 days before the official inauguration of the new waterway.
According to the Mohamed Sakr, the head of navigational management department at the Suez Canal Authority, different size ships will participate in the trial of the new canal.
Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Mohab Mamish said on Monday that the dredging of the New Suez will be finished on Friday, July 24.
As earlier announced, the inauguration of the canal will take place on August 6, with the grand opening ceremony funded through donations from the public and contributions from participating dredging companies.
