TLP appoints Delivery Director for Swansea tidal lagoon

Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) has named Mike Unsworth as the Delivery Director for the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project. Unsworth will join the company in August, and will support Andrew McNaughton in bringing tidal lagoon power plant into service by leading the construction and commissioning activities

Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) has named Mike Unsworth as the Delivery Director for the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project.

Unsworth will join the company in August, and will support Andrew McNaughton in bringing tidal lagoon power plant into service by leading the construction and commissioning activities of the project’s contractors, TLP’s press release reads.

The newly appointed Director will join TLP from Eneco Wind UK, where he works as Project Director within the offshore wind industry. He currently leads the £3 bln 970 MW Navitus Bay offshore wind project and sits as Vice Chair of Renewable UK’s Offshore Wind Delivery Group.

Andrew McNaughton , Director of Engineering and Construction at Tidal Lagoon Power, said: “In joining us, Mike strengthens our Project Management capability as we continue to prepare the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon for the start of work on site. His track record speaks for itself and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Mike Unsworth added: “This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to help deliver a new and potentially transformational option in the UK’s energy portfolio. I am joining a first class team with an inspirational vision and a pilot project that has captured the world’s attention.”

Tidal Lagoon Power is a UK-based tidal energy player that is developing a fleet of six tidal energy lagoons across the UK.
