National Grid’s LNG terminal at the Isle of Grain is marking its 10th anniversary since opening in 2005.
Grain can supply the equivalent of 20 percent of the UK’s gas demand and deliver 15 million tonnes of gas each year.
“ With gas imports set to increase to 75% of gas demand by 2035, Grain is essential for the UK’s security of energy supply ,” National Grid said in a statement.
The LNG terminal recently began offering cool down and ship reloading services. There are plans to offer break bulk services through an open season and possible extra capacity through a fourth phase expansion.
This autumn, road tanker loading will also be added to the list of services offered.
