Iran is ready to sign an agreement with a major Indian company for the export of Iran’s natural gas to India, managing director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company Alireza Kameli said.

After India left the IP gas pipeline project, a consortium of some Indian companies headed by South Asia Gas Enterprise (SAGE) expressed willingness to import Iran’s natural gas, Kameli said.

He further added that the company is waiting for the termination of anti-Iran sanctions to fund the construction of an underwater pipeline.

Kameli said officials from SAGE have repeatedly claimed that an underwater gas pipeline from Iran to India would only take three to four years to be completed.

An envisaged underwater gas pipeline from Iran to India will stretch 1400km.
