Ashok Kumar Balyan, former CEO of Petronet LNG, has joined India’s Reliance Group as head of the company’s oil & gas business, according to local media reports.

Balyan will be leading the Group’s efforts towards setting up of an LNG terminal and LNG procurement for the Bangladesh power project being implemented by Reliance Power as well as other opportunities in the oil and gas business, the reports said.

Balyan completed a five year term as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of India’s largest LNG importer on July 15.

Reliance Power and Bangladesh Power Development Board recently signed a memorandum of understanding to develop 3,000 MW of LNG based combined cycle power project in Bangladesh.

The project will be developed in phases along with a floating storage and regasification unit to supply re-gasified LNG to the power project.
