SgurrEnergy has partnered with Chinese lidar manufacturer, OASIS, in a deal which will complement the company’s package of wind farm SgurrOptimiser services.

The package, which includes bespoke analysis and recommendations to fully extract the wind energy potential from operating wind farms, will help owners to maximise energy production, revenue and asset longevity through a series of practical, site-specific enhancements.

The agreement is worth several million GBP to SgurrEnergy and will create 20 new jobs in Scotland over the next 3 years.

The partnership will allow SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, to combine its lidar technical knowledge with the design and manufacturing capability of OASIS. According to the company, the partnership will considerably advance wind lidar technology applications, making it more cost effective, while providing exciting new products for the sector.

The First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon , who witnessed a partnership deal, said: “Scotland is seen as a world leader in the renewables sector and companies like SgurrEnergy are looked upon as experts in their field with unrivalled insight and expertise. The firm’s deal with OASIS is a celebration of the innovation and success between Scotland and China and I hope their partnership will lead to positive results.”

SgurrEnergy’s technical director, Ian Irvine , said: “The joint development of new lidar products will help our clients maximise their wind farm assets, a key element of our strategy. We believe that our reputation for robust, accurate advice puts us in a strong position to support our clients to optimise the performance of their wind farms.

“Furthermore, this deal supports the strategic target for company growth which is set to build our renewable focussed, consultancy business to 20 international offices by 2020.”
