The President of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari, met Monday in Abuja Eni’s Chief Executive Officer, Claudio Descalzi, where Eni’s CEO updated the President on Eni’s oil and gas operations in Nigeria.
According to Eni, Buhari was particularly pleased with the progress achieved in the offshore activities. This was Buhari’s first meeting with Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, since his appointment last May.
During the meeting Claudio Descalzi renewed his condolences for the tragedy caused by the recent explosion of a company’s pipeline in the Niger Delta, due to acts of sabotage, which resulted in the death of 14 people, Eni has said in the press release.
Claudio Descalzi restated Eni’s commitment to the development of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria while President Buhari expressed his appreciation for the company’s continued engagement in the country in the current challenging environment of low international oil prices.
Eni E&P Division started activities in Nigeria in 1962 through a wholly owned subsidiary, Nigerian Agip Oil Company.
