An offshore worker has died on the Shell-operated floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Anasuria in the North Sea.
According to Herald Scotland , William Nichol, 61, fell ill Tuesday while working on the FPSO. Nichol was employed by IKM Testing UK Limited.
Despite the best efforts of the medical crew, the worker passed away on board the vessel located in the Central North Sea in Block 21/25, 185km (115 miles) East of Aberdeen, the newspaper said.
Herald Scotland quotes Shell UK & Ireland’s upstream director Paul Goodfellow as saying: “I wish to express my sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of William Nichol, who sadly passed away on our Anasuria platform, in the central North Sea, on Tuesday evening.
“We are working closely with Mr Nichol’s employer, IKM Testing, to provide support to his family and colleagues during this difficult time.”
Offshore Energy Today reached out to IKM Testing and Shell seeking further info about the unfortunate event. We are yet to receive a reply.

In an e-mail to Offshore Energy Today, IKM Testing confirmed that one of its employees, William Nichol, died Tuesday onboard the Anasuria.
“IKM were notified by Shell’s emergency response team at approximately 16:00 that Mr Nichol had collapsed. Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical crew on board, they were unable to revive him,” IKM said in the statement.
“Mr Nichol was a dedicated and valued member of the IKM team and will be sadly missed,” said Tony Perkin , Managing Director of IKM Testing UK Limited.

In an e-mail to Offshore Energy Today, Shell’s spokesperson confirmed the unfortunate event on its Anasuria FPSO located in the North Sea.
