Ophir Energy said it has significantly advanced its Fortuna FLNG project in Equatorial Guinea in the first half of this year.
The project remains on schedule for FID in mid-2016 and first gas in mid-2019, with Golar LNG appointed as the midstream provider and the upstream component of the project already in FEED stage, the UK-based company said in its results report on Thursday.
According to Ophir, formal processes have commenced to secure both gas buyers and equity partners and the company is “ encouraged by the levels of interest at this early stage. ”
Fortuna field sits within the Block R licence, offshore Equatorial Guinea which is located in the south-eastern part of the Niger Delta complex.
The field is expected to produce 2.2 mtpa and Ophir currently has an 80% working interest.
