Ichthys LNG Project has landed three more subsea production manifolds on the seabed, bringing the total to four.
The Ichthys LNG Project is a Joint Venture between INPEX group companies (the Operator), major partner Total, CPC Corporation Taiwan and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
According to INPEX, good weather in the Ichthys field allowed for the 435 tonne manifolds to be installed in around two days – landed within tolerances and ahead of schedule.
When operational, five manifolds will commingle production from the subsea wellheads, distributing to the project’s central processing facility via 18 inch flowlines and flexible risers.
INPEX added that this is part of a campaign to install more than 30,000 tonnes of subsea infrastructure and equipment across the field.
INPEX discovered the giant Ichthys gas and condensate field in the Browse Basin in 2000. Located about 220 kilometres offshore Western Australia, Ichthys represents the largest discovery of hydrocarbon liquids in Australia in 40 years. A Final Investment Decision for the Ichthys LNG Project was reached in 2012 and first production is scheduled for the end of 2016.
