Oil & Gas UK has given potential entrants for the Oil & Gas UK Awards 2015 an extra week to submit their nominations.

The representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry said it has granted an extension to the deadline for nominations until 5pm on Friday, August 21, due to the level of interest.

Nominations for the recently-launched Oil and Gas Authority MER UK Award , however, will remain open until Wednesday September 2.

The ninth annual Oil & Gas UK Awards, sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited, will take place at Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference Centre on the evening of Thursday, November 5.

With the company awards, the Oil & Gas UK Awards for Investment in People and for Business Innovation, split into two categories, one for large and the other for smaller companies, this year’s awards will again encourage a more diverse range of players in the sector to share their achievements, Oil & Gas UK has said.

The Oil and Gas Authority MER UK Award introduced this year seeks to highlight large and small companies whose cooperative approach and positive behaviour have helped to maximise economic recovery of oil and gas from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

Furthermore, awards for Mentor of the year, Apprentice of the Year and Graduate of the Year will also be announced on the night.

Stephen Marcos Jones , Oil & Gas UK’s business development director, said: “Outstanding individuals and companies are required more than ever in this challenging business environment to lead the way to an efficient, safe and sustainable future for the sector. It is clear from the nominations we’ve received so far that a remarkable amount of talent is out there and we want to hear of more. We hope that by granting requests for this extension, we’ll be giving the companies and individuals leading our industry the best opportunity to promote their achievements.”
