Edda Freya, Ostensjo Rederi’s new offshore construction vessel, was launched on Saturday, August 15, in the Kleven yard in Norway.
The vessel is 150 m long and is designed for cable laying, offshore construction and IMR operations. It is going to work for Deep Ocean, upon completion of the outfitting and delivery in February 2016. It will work offshore Norway on a project with Statoil and Wintershall.
The vessel of SALT 304 design has dimensions of 149.8 meters in length, a width of 27 metres, and 2,300 m2 of total deck space. Edda Freya is designed and equipped to suit the Greater North Sea market with the fuel saving environmentally friendly Siemens BlueDrive PlusC propulsion control technology and DP3 positioning system. The mission equipment will be a 150T dual tensioner vertical lay system and a 3000 tons carousel situated below deck.
The 600 tons active heave compensated knuckle boom main crane has extended reach. The accommodation facilities will have a capacity of 140 persons.
