Iran to start exporting gas to Iraq within a month

Azizollah Ramezani, the director for international affairs department of the National Iranian Gas Company, said the draft agreement to export Iran’s natural gas to neighboring Iraq has been finalized after four days of discussions between the Iranian and Iraqi expert teams.

Azizollah Ramezani, the director for international affairs department of the National Iranian Gas Company, said the draft agreement to export Iran’s natural gas to neighboring Iraq has been finalized after four days of discussions between the Iranian and Iraqi expert teams.

He said that Iran’s gas export to Iraq will start at 4 million cubic meters per day which is scheduled to reach 25 MMcm/d, noting that the pipeline will become operational in less than a month, stands in the company’s statement.

According to Ramezani, the Iraqi delegation, comprised of energy ministry officials, held technical sessions with Iranian gas experts to discuss operational issues, including the method of delivery and qualitative and quantitative measurements.

Ramezani said offering technical, financial and executive training to Iraqi manpower was also discussed during the talks and agreements were reached in this regard.
