Bestobell Valves informed that it has supplied cryogenic valves to the LNG-fuelled ferry, the MV Armand- Imbeau II, which has recently been launched by Chantier Davie of Canada.
It is the first of two dual fuel ferries being built for ferry operator Société des Traversiers du Québec. The ferry features the LNGPac fuel storage system which operates on dual fuel.
The two ferries for the Tadoussac‒Baie-Sainte-Catherine route are being built for year-round navigation on the Saguenay Fjord. The two ferries are the first LNG-propelled vessels to be built in North America.
Measuring 92 metres long, each ship will include eight rows on two decks, enabling the transport of up to 110 vehicles, including tractor-trailers.
The ferries use the liquefied natural gas engines and instead of a conventional propulsion system, each ship uses electric thrusters.
The MV Armand-Imbeau II is scheduled to be delivered in Fall 2015 followed by the MV Jos-Deschênes II, four months later.
