LNG player BG Group is increasing deliveries of liquefied natural gas to India as demand in east Asian market dwindles and production at its QCLNG facility on Curtis Island ramps up.

First cargo to India from the Queensland Curtis LNG facility was delivered aboard the 159,800 cbm Maran Gas Delphi. Platts reported that the cargo was delivered to Petronet’s Dahej LNG terminal.

The company has also lined up two more vessels, the 161,870 cbm Maran Gas Posidonia that is to deliver its cargo to Dahej by the end of this month, while the 138,000 cbm Methane Princes is scheduled to deliver its load to the same destination on September 3.

Sources revealed that one of the deliveries is a spot cargo for an Indian customer while the two remaining cargoes are likely to be delivered to GSPC that has signed two supply deals with BG Group, one of which is a 20-year deal for 1.25 mtpa of LNG.

BG Group was also awarded a tender by India’s GAIL for the supply of five fixed price cargoes from October through December to the Dabhol LNG terminal.
